The three most taboo materials for swimsuits are pure cotton, nylon blend, and polyester, which are not suitable for making swimsuits due to their strong water absorption, poor elasticity, or susceptibility to chlorine corrosion.

Three materials that are not suitable for swimsuits

Pure cotton.
Pure cotton has extremely strong water absorption, and after absorbing water, it becomes heavy and difficult to dry. It not only increases the resistance during swimming, but also easily causes skin discomfort or bacterial growth due to prolonged moisture. ‌‌

Nylon blend.
Nylon blended fabric has poor wear resistance, and long-term exposure to chlorine or seawater salts in swimming pools can cause hardening and loss of elasticity, leading to deformation or breakage of swimsuits. ‌‌

Polyester.
Polyester has limited elasticity and mostly stretches in one direction, which cannot meet the wrapping and freedom of movement required for swimsuits. It also has weak chlorine resistance and is prone to shorten its service life due to chemical corrosion. ‌‌
